Ladies Finish 11th at Texas State Bobcat Classic

KYLE, Texas – In their final tune-up before the Mid-Continent Conference championships, the Centenary women’s golf team finished 11th at the Texas State CenturyTel Bobcat Classic.  The Ladies shot rounds of 332, 353, and 336 for 1021.

 

Jessica Garza shrugged off a tough first round score of 84 to post 78 and 77, tying her for 19th place with 239.  Leigh Newton (88-83-87) tied for 50th with 258 while Bethany Cox (96-102-97) finished 69th with 295. 

 

Chloe’ Mims and Tracy Williams didn’t post total scores as they withdrew their third and second rounds respectively.  Mims opened with a first-round 73 before posting a 90 on the first day’s second 18.  Williams shot an opening 87 before withdrawing Monday, but came back to fire the Ladies best round on Tuesday with a 75.

 

Louisiana-Monroe took home team honors with a 939, followed by Lamar with a 943.  McNeese State (953), host Texas State (955), Texas-Pan American (957), and Sam Houston State (959) battled for third.  The next tier included Xavier (966), St. Edwards (968), McLennan CC (970), and Texas-San Antonio (996).  Rounding out the competition was Centenary (1021), Lon Morris CC (1077), Tyler JC (1113), and Texas-Brownsville CC (1138).
