ITHACA, NY – Centenary sophomore Meredith Smith took home her first individual National title at the 2006 USA Gymnastics Collegiate National championships on Saturday.  Smith, a College Station, Texas, native, topped all competitors with a 9.750 on the vault in her second consecutive All-America performance.

“Meredith has been showing us all year that she’s one of the top performers in the country on the vault,” Ladies Head Coach Bill Hardy said.  “Now she’s had the opportunity to show everyone else that she’s the best.”

Also competing for individual titles were All-Americans Kristina Menne and Julia Cornelius.  Menne finished fifth in the floor exercises with a 9.700 while Cornelius was 10th on the beam with an 8.250.  All three Ladies earned their All-America honors by finishing in the top eight of their events during Thursday’s preliminary team rounds.
