Micah Rhodes

BATON ROUGE – Along with earning her third Mid-Continent Conference Player of the Week honor, Centenary junior Micah Rhodes also won her first Louisiana Sports Writer’s Association Player of the Week award this season.  Breaking five school records, she tied the Ladies single season homerun record (27) with a three-run walk-off shot to beat Oakland on Saturday, also breaking the season RBI (41) and total bases (94) marks, as well as career total bases (274).  Rhodes’ game-tying RBI double on Friday night put her in a tie for career doubles (32) as well.

A two-time first-team All-Mid-Con selection, Rhodes hit .529 over the week as the Ladies went 3-2, splitting a home conference series with the Golden Grizzlies and downing Grambling State on the road.  She posted a 1.118 slugging percentage, including a double and three homeruns, for six RBI.

Rhodes also took home player of the week honors for the weeks of Feb. 20th and 27th from the conference offices in Elmhurst, Ill.  The Ladies have also claimed five Mid-Con Pitcher of the Week awards, including a conference leading four by Ashley Lail.  Freshman shortstop Emerald Doria and pitcher Kristan Morton have also won Player and Pitcher of the Week respectively.

The LSWA honor is the first this season for Rhodes or any other Centenary player.
