Ladies Conclude Season with a win at Mid-Con Cluster

CHICAGO, Ill.—The Centenary women’s tennis team wrapped up its season by going 1-2 in the Mid-Con cluster hosted by Chicago State this weekend. The Ladies fell to Southern Utah and IUPUI by scores of 6-1 and 5-0, but defeated UMKC 7-0 to finish at 3-5 in conference play.

 

Christine Majchrowicz led the way for the Ladies by capturing wins in two of her three individual matches. She tallied Centenary’s lone point against SUU with a 6-2, 6-1 victory in the second slot before besting Anna Grodinsky of UMKC 6-0, 6-0. She also added an 8-0 doubles win with partner Heather Kelley over the Kangaroos’ top doubles team.

 

Kelley defeated UMKC’s Molli Boyd in the top singles position 6-2, 6-0 and came up on the short end of a hard fought 2-6, 7-6, 10-6 match against Southern Utah’s ace. Kristina Collins, Courtney Myers, and Jennifer Majchrowicz also recorded wins over their UMKC opponents.
