INDIANAPOLIS – The Centenary men’s and women’s golf teams competed at the Mid-Continent Conference Championships Monday, finishing the first two rounds in eighth and fifth places respectively at The Fort Golf Club.  The Gents shot rounds of 335 and 340 for 675 while the Ladies posted scores of 321 and 334 for 655.

 

Freshman Jessica Garza paces the Ladies with rounds of 75 and 80 for 155, tying her for ninth place.  Chloe’ Mims finished the day at 161 with rounds of 79 and 82 for a tie at 16th.  Tracy Williams ended the day five strokes behind Mims with identical rounds of 83 and a tie for 19th place.

 

Leigh Newton’s 84 and 89 put her in 24th place at 173 while Bethany Cox finished the day in 29th place at 184, shooting rounds of 89 and 95.

 

Oral Roberts (598) holds a 16 stroke lead over Oakland (614).  Western Illinois is in third with 623, followed by UMKC (632), Centenary (655), and IUPUI (687).

 

On the men’s side, David Viviano shot 77 and 82 for 159 to tie for 31st place.  John Hogan’s 79 and 83 put him in 35th at 162 while Matt Williams is just behind at 36th with rounds of 87 and 82 for 169.

 

Mike Lowbardino’s 185 place him 38th with rounds of 92 and 93 while Zach Bruhnke shot a 92 and 96 to tie for 39th with 188.

 

Western Illinois leads the way with a 574, five strokes ahead of Oral Roberts with 579.  Southern Utah is in third with 584, while Oakland (593) and UMKC (595) are battling for the next spot.  IUPUI (611), Chicago State (633), and Centenary (675) round out the day’s action.

 

A final round will take place for both the men and the women on Tuesday.
