Head Coach
Steve Curtis

SHREVEPORT – New Centenary women’s basketball head coach Steve Curtis was officially introduced at a Wednesday press conference as the school’s fourth head coach since starting a Division I program in the 1999-2000 season.  Curtis addressed current and former Centenary athletes, staff, and faculty, as well as fans and members of the local media in the Wilhite Media Room in the Gold Dome.

Curtis brings a wealth of high-level experience to his new post at Centenary as he has served as an assistant coach at two Southeastern Conference institutions and two Big 12 schools for a total of 16 years. His stops include Ole Miss, Nebraska, Texas A&M and most recently Mississippi State, where he has spent the last three seasons as the top assistant. Over his entire coaching career, Curtis’ teams have compiled an overall record of 309 wins and 224 losses. He also spent a season as the head coach at Clarke College.

The Ladies enter their fourth season in Mid-Continent Conference play in 2006-07.  Curtis will have his first test in league play against four-time defending regular season champions Western Illinois on Saturday, January 6, 2007, at home in the Gold Dome.
