Ladies Basketball Adds Pair to Play in 2006-07

SHREVEPORT – The Centenary women’s basketball team has signed a pair to National Letters of Intent to play starting the 2006-07 season, new head coach Steve Curtis announced.  Guards Jasmine Bothwell (Birmingham, Ala. / Clay Chalkville HS) and Bethany Joseph (New Iberia, La. / New Iberia HS) will help solidify the Ladies’ backcourt with the departure of two graduating starters.


Bothwell, a point guard out of Clay Chalkville High School in Birmingham, Ala., averaged 11 points, seven rebounds, six assists, and four steals a game as a senior.  She was the MVP of the North/South All-Star Game and was named Birmingham Area First Team, Birmingham North-East Player of the Year, and All-Metro Second Team.


Joseph comes to Centenary from New Iberia High School in New Iberia, La., where she will graduate as the Valedictorian of the 2006 class.  She averaged 14.6 points, three rebounds, five assists, and three steals per game.  Boasting a perfect 4.0 GPA, Joseph was named to Louisiana’s Academic All-State 5A Team, All-State Academic Composite Team, and was tabbed Second Team All-District.


The new additions join early signees Leslie Forrest and Samantha Gillespe, both Louisiana natives.
