Micah Rhodes

SHREVEPORT—Centenary softball player Micah Rhodes has garnered her share of attention for her accomplishments on the field over her stellar three-year career with the Ladies. However, this week the heavy-hitting lefty is receiving attention on the national level as she is featured in the current issue of Sports Illustrated. The junior right fielder is one of seven amateur athletes highlighted in SI’s Faces in the Crowd section.

Rhodes (Grapevine, Texas) leads the Mid-Continent Conference in batting average with a lofty .432 average and is in the top five of several other categories. She owns almost every major single season and career offensive record at Centenary and just earned her third consecutive All-Mid-Con first team selection. She has also been recognized as the conference player of the week more than a handful of times in her career and was the 2004 league Newcomer of the Year.

Off the field, Rhodes is very successful in the classroom and has been rewarded with representing Centenary at the 2005 NCAA Leadership Convention. In addition, she was recently named the school’s Most Outstanding Female Athlete.

Her appearance in this week’s Sports Illustrated can be found on page 28 of the magazine.
