Todd Russ

SHREVEPORT—Centenary head men’s basketball coach Rob Flaska has announced the hiring of Todd Russ as assistant coach. Russ joins current coaching staff members Mike Smith and Joey Tolis and takes the position vacated by Brandon Curran who left Centenary in order to pursue educational goals.

Russ is a Louisiana native from the town of White Castle. He joins the Gents staff after a three-year stint as an assistant coach at Nicholls State University. Other stops along his career include positions at Ascension Catholic High School and The Dunham School. He also enjoyed a collegiate playing career at Nicholls State where he helped the Colonels earn a bid to the NCAA Tournament in the 1995-96 season.

“Todd brings us a wealth of experience in recruiting, particularly in the state of Louisiana,” said Flaska. “He is a home-grown talent who played Division I basketball and knows the coaching business. We are excited to have Todd join our staff.”

Russ will serve as the recruiting coordinator at Centenary and will coach the perimeter players in addition to various other duties.
