SHREVEPORT – Centenary men’s basketball head coach Rob Flaska has announced the addition of a pair of post players to the upcoming 2006-07 roster.  Jerrald Bonham and Xabi Zusperreguy have signed National Letters of Intent and will begin their careers with the Gents as a freshman and junior, respectively.

Bonham (Plano, Texas/Plano West HS) is a 6’8 forward who averaged 12.7 points, 9.4 rebounds, 3.3 blocks, and 1.6 assists per game as a senior.  He earned second team All-District 8-5A honors and was ranked one of the top 50 players in the state by Texas Hoops recruiting service.

“Jerrald brings us great athleticism and quickness to our post game,” Flaska said.  “He has good ability to score in our half-court and fast-break offense.  His upside as a player is tremendous.”

Zusperreguy (Paris, France/Highland CC) adds another dimension of size and experience to the Gents frontcourt.  The 6’8 forward/center averaged 10 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 block a game as a freshman at Illinois Central College in 2004-05 before transferring to Highland CC where he received a medical redshirt.

“Xabi brings us much needed athleticism and scoring ability inside,” said Flaska.  “Versatile enough to post up or step out and shoot the three pointer, his maturity and physical strength inside will be an important factor to the success of our team.”

“The signings of both Xabi and Jerrald gives us inside players that have the ability to match-up with inside players of the better teams we play,” Flaska added.  “Both bring a good inside size with athleticism and scoring ability.”
