Centenary's Garza in Lead After First Day of Lady Cardinal Invitational

Beaumont, Texas – Centenary freshman Jessica Garza is in first place after two rounds on the first day of Lamar’s Lady Cardinal Invitational at Brentwood Country Club.  Her rounds of 73 and 74 give her a one stroke advantage over the field.

 

As a team, the Ladies shot rounds of 333 and 330 to finish in sixth place for the day, 52 strokes of the lead and 23 behind fifth place Louisiana-Monroe.

 

Freshman Tracy Williams is tied for 23rd with rounds of 86 and 80 for a 166, while the only non-rookie, sophomore Chloe’ Mims, is tied at 28th with a 168 after shooting 86 and 82.  Freshmen Leigh Newton and Bethany Cox shot 182 and 183 respectively for 33rd and 34th places.  Playing as an individual, Shreveport native Lizzie Lyles’ 204 puts her in 36th.

 

Host Lamar leads the pack with a 611, followed by a battle for second by Texas State’s 626 and UT-San Antonio’s 628.  Sam Houston State (639), ULM (640), and Centenary (663) round out the action for the day.  Play will finish with a lone round tomorrow.
