McCALLA, Ala – The Centenary men’s golf team finished in 11th place of the Buffalo Rock/Southern Showdown, the Gents first tournament of the year.  The Gents shot a team best 291 in the third round of play for a 889 after posting scores of 297 and 301 on Monday.


Junior David Viviano shot a team-best 68 in his final round, finishing tied for 44th (218, +5) after taking home matching rounds of 75 on Monday.  He was followed closely behind by Reid Petree who tied for 52nd (220, +7) after shooting 74, 71, and 75.


Nathan Hensley (224, +11), John Hogan (228, +15) and Ryan Oliver (237, +24) each finished tied for 63rd, 71st, and 79th respectively.  Zach Bruhnke withdrew from the final round for a DNF.


Troy (829, -23) upended Belmont’s 10-stroke lead coming into the final round, capitalizing on the Bruins (832, -20) worst outing of the tournament to take home the win.  Murray State and Tennessee Tech shared the third spot with 841s for 11 under par, followed closely behind by one stroke by Berry (842).  Samford (848, -4) and host Birmingham-Southern (854, +2) battled for a middle finish, while Tennessee-Martin (865, +13), Tennessee State (871, +19), Jackson State (877, +25), and Centenary (889, +37) rounded out the team action.
