– The Centenary women’s soccer team fell twice on the road this weekend, including their opening match in Mid-Continent Conference play.  The Ladies fell to defending Mid-Con champs Oral Roberts 1-0 on Friday before losing to Tulsa a day later by a score of 4-0.

The Ladies held tough with a Golden Eagles squad that won the conference regular season and tournament titles a year ago.  Centenary battled ORU to a scoreless tie through the first 80 minutes of the match, eventually surrendering a lone goal at the 80:35 mark.  Sophomore keeper Ali Hilsher collected seven saves in the match before freshman Sarah Balkey took over for the final 2:20, picking up a pair of saves of her own.

In the second game of the weekend, the Ladies (4-6-1, 0-1-0 Mid-Con) took host Tulsa to halftime at 0-0, looking to salvage the road trip with a split.  Instead, the Golden Hurricanes scored less than a minute into the second frame, adding another three goals before the game was over.

Centenary returns home to face in-state foe Grambling State on Wednesday at 5 p.m., part of a doubleheader with the Gents soccer squad.  The Ladies then have a week and a half break before heading to Indiana to take on Mid-Con opponents Valparaiso and IUPUI.
