Ladies Breeze Past Prairie View A&M 3-0

SHREVEPORT – The Centenary women’s volleyball team moved one step closer to returning to .500 play as they handily defeated visiting Prairie View A&M for the third time this season.  The Ladies moved to 9-10 on the year with the three game victory, winning 30-22, 30-25, 30-16.


Freshman Ashlee Freeman and senior Tracee Byrd paced the Ladies with double-digit kills, collecting 13 and 12 respectively.  Byrd would add nine digs and eight service aces, one shy of the Centenary single match record.


Sophomore Linsday Bekelja added 31 assists with nine digs in the win.  Freshman Danielle Bochat had another solid outing for the Maroon and White, picking up 8 kills with no errors on 26 attempts for a team best .308 percent.  She would also add a team-high 11 digs.


The Ladies stay home in the friendly confines of the Gold Dome as the host Mid-Continent Conference foes UMKC and Western Illinois on Friday and Saturday respectively.  The match against UMKC, originally scheduled for 7 p.m., has been moved up to 5 p.m., while the match against WIU will take place at 5 p.m.
