VALPARAISO, Ind – Despite a strong performance between the pipes by Centenary women’s soccer keeper Ali Hilsher, Valparaiso downed the visiting Ladies 2-0 for Centenary’s fourth loss in as many games.  Hilsher had another big day in the net, collecting 15 saves in the loss.

The first half looked as if it was going to end scoreless as Hilsher handled the Crusader onslaught of 16 shots, making nine of her 15 saves in the initial frame.  But with just over two minutes to play, the Centenary (4-8-1, 0-2 Mid-Con) defense lapsed, heading a cross by Ashley Shaneyfelt into their own net for an own goal at the 42:54 mark.

Valparaiso (7-4-1, 3-0 Mid-Con) would add an insurance goal in the 88th minute, this time a legitimate score from Lori Johnson on a rebound from Reva Van Aartsen’s shot.

The Ladies continue their road trip as they face IUPUI in Indianapolis on Sunday at 1 p.m.
