JONESBORO, Ark – The Centenary women’s golf team is currently in 12th place at the Arkansas State Lady Indian Classic after posting a 326 in the first round.  The Ladies are 23 strokes off the lead, but just 14 off the head of a pack of 10 other teams all separated by seven strokes.


Freshman Jessica Garza paces the Ladies with 77, good enough to tie for 15th place.  She is followed by sophomore Chloe’ Mims (81, T-15), and fellow freshmen Tracy Williams (82, T-41) and Leigh Newton (86, T-65).  Senior Billie Cook finished out of scoring consideration for the day with an 88, tying her for 74th.


Louisiana-Monroe leads all teams by nine strokes with a 303.  Murray State and Sam Houston State (312 each) begin a cluster of schools separated by just seven strokes, including Belmont (313), Texas State (315), Northern Iowa (316), Texas-San Antonio (317), host Arkansas State and McLennan CC (318 each), and Austin Peay State (319).  Rounding out the day’s action is St. Louis (322), Centenary (326), Arkansas Tech (330), Evansville (335), and Harding (351).
