HOUSTON, Tex.—The Centenary volleyball team split a pair of matches on Tuesday in Houston as the Ladies defeated Texas Southern 3-1 (24-30, 30-26, 30-13, 30-20) before falling to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 3-0 (13-30, 21-30, 27-30). Danielle Bochat racked up 26 kills in the two matches while Ashlee Freeman totaled 22 kills on the day.

Centenary (10-18) started out slow in its opening match with Texas Southern, dropping game in large part to several costly service errors. The Ladies bounced back to hit .204, .407, and .262 over the final three games to earn the win. Bochat turned in a stellar performance as she accounted for 20 kills and 21 digs while hitting at a .395 clip and adding five aces. Lindsay Bekelja tallied 47 assists and 15 digs in her second consecutive exceptional outing. Freeman added 11 kills, Shayla Andreas notched 10 kills, and Chevy White pounded down a career-high seven kills to end the Ladies seven-game losing streak.

Texas A&M-Corpus Christi used 15 aces from its strong service game to ease by the Ladies in the nightcap. The Islanders raced out to a one-game lead, catching the tired Centenary team off guard. The Ladies climbed back into the match and improved each game, narrowly missing a victory in game three at 30-27.

Freeman duplicated her kill total from the first match with 11 on 30 attempts. Bochat was limited to only six kills and Rebecca Lunceford added five kills in the loss. Katrina Stephens recorded her first double digit digs effort with a team-leading 13 while Bekelja put up another double double with 21 assists and 12 digs.

Centenary will next host Oral Roberts in its only Mid-Con match this week. The Ladies and the Golden Eagles will hook up at 7 p.m. on Friday in the Gold Dome.
