SHREVEPORT – The Centenary swim team began the 2005-06 season with a solid showing against visiting Spring Hill College, placing first in all but one of the 10 events of the meet.  Centenary downed the Badgers by a combined team score of 212 to 148.

The meet began with a women’s 400 medley relay, won by the team of Murphy Crain, Nicole Turner, Melanie Zimmerman, and Alana Gregory in 4:16.29.  The men’s 400 medley relay followed, with the team of Adam D’Aquin, Kyle McKee, Chase Lambert, and Bryan Myers winning handily in 3:44.83.

The third even began six consecutive mixed relays, all won by Centenary.  The closest contest came in the mixed 200 backstroke relay, as the team of Dustin Myers, Ross Gilbert, Caitlin Cunningham, and Ally Gann nipped the Badgers by a quarter of a second in 1:52.23 to take the victory.

Spring Hill won their only event in the men’s 400 freestyle relay in a time of 3:23.04, just 0.31 seconds ahead of the Gents team of Dustin Myers, Matija Fojs, Gilbert, and Robert Hendricks.

The Ladies and Gents face off with Spring Hill again on Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Centenary Fitness Center.
