Ladies Travel to Nicholls State

SHREVEPORT, La. -- The Centenary women’s soccer team (1-0-0) start a series of four road games Wednesday, traveling to Nicholls State University (1-1-0), in Thibodaux, La., for a 3 p.m. contest at Nicholls Soccer Field.

Fresh off Sunday’s overtime victory over Sam Houston State, the Ladies enter a stretch in which they play three games over five days. Following Wednesday’s game against the Colonels, Centenary visits Texas State University Friday and Stephen F. Austin University Sunday. The Ladies travel to Northwestern State Sept. 5 to conclude their four road games.

In Sunday’s 3-2 win, freshman forward Stefani Robbs (Dallas/R.L. Turner) contributed to all three Centenary goals, finishing the game with two goals and an assist. The freshman leads the Ladies with five points this season.

Junior Bre Fletcher (Schertz, Texas/Samuel Clemens) has the other goal for Centenary, standing second on the team with four shots.

In goal, junior Ali Hilsher (Tulsa, Okla./Washington) has a 1.92 goals-against average and a .818 save percentage.

Nicholls State enters Wednesday’s game with a 1-1-0 record, shutting out Prairie View A&M, 8-0, on Sunday.

The eight-goal difference in Sunday’s win proved to be the largest margin of victory in the history of the Colonels program, with Nicholls State taking a record 49 shots in the contest.

Sophomore midfielder Sara West leads the with five points, scoring two goals and adding an assist in Sunday’s win.

Also registering two goals on the season is freshman Alicia Gautreau. The midfielder set a school record with 14 shots in the Colonels last contest.

Junior Sarah Neunzig started both contests in goal for Nicholls State.

Centenary is undefeated in the all-time series with Nicholls State with a 6-0 record. In last season’s game between the two schools, the Ladies captured a 3-1 victory, with sophomore Lauren Stanley (Mesquite, Texas/Poteet) scoring a goal and adding an assist.
