NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- Freshman Meagan Trifaux’s overtime goal led Stephen F. Austin (2-1-0) to a 3-2 victory over the Centenary women’s soccer team (2-2-0) Sunday at SFA Intramural Field, on the campus of the SFA.

Ninety minutes was not enough to decide the contest between SFA and Centenary, with the Ladies playing their second overtime game in a week.

Deadlocked at 2-2 with 46 seconds remaining in the first overtime, Trifaux ended the game on a shot to the lower-right corner of the net, capitalizing on a late corner kick by teammate Lauren Fricks.

Centenary did hold a 2-1 advantage heading into the final five minutes of regulation play, however the Ladies failed to maintain the lead when Fricks volleyed a deflection past Centenary goalkeeper Ali Hilsher (Tulsa, Okla./Washington) in the 88th minute. Fricks played a part on all three Ladyjack goals, ending the game with a goal and four points.

SFA took an early lead in the game when senior Shahin Pabani scored her team-leading fourth goal of the season in the 10th minute.

Despite the early deficit, Centenary stormed back scoring two-straight goals to take the lead late into regulation time.

After Ladies freshman Stefani Robbs (Dallas/R.L. Turner) tied the game in the 34th minute, scoring her fourth goal of the season, junior Bre Fletcher (Schertz, Texas/Samuel Clemens) drove past a series of SFA defenders and beat Ladyjack goalkeeper Francesca Tierno on the breakaway to the left corner of the net to give Centenary the advantage.

Following Fricks game-tying goal in the 88th minute, Centenary drew the final scoring opportunity of regulation play, but Robbs’ attempt in the final moments went wide of the net, leading to the extra session.

Hilsher made six saves in the loss for the Ladies, with SFA’s Tierno registering two saves.

Centenary plays its final game of a four-game roadtrip Tuesday, traveling to Northwestern State, in Natchitoches, La., for a 7 p.m. contest.
