Fielding Earns Mid-Con Weekly Defensive Award

ELMHURST, Ill.—Centenary freshman volleyball player Lauren Fielding has been named the Mid-Continent Conference’s Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in her young career. The libero helped the Ladies to a 2-2 record last week and averaged 4.71 digs per game.

 

Fielding (Plano, Texas/Plano Senior HS) helped Centenary (2-5) to a win over Jackson State in the Econo Lodge Centenary Volleyball Classic opener with 12 digs and followed that up with 15 digs and two aces against Nicholls State. She then collected 16 digs against Central Arkansas before tallying a season-high 23 digs and five aces in the Ladies win over Southern.

 

For the week, Fielding fired off eight service aces and she has now reached double-digit digs in six of her first seven collegiate matches. She will lead the Ladies into the TCU Tournament this weekend where Centenary will take on Ole Miss on Friday at 4:30 p.m. before facing TCU and Davidson on Saturday at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. respectively.
