SHREVEPORT, La. -- The Centenary men’s and women’s golf teams open the 2006-07 season this weekend, hosting the Centenary Fall Classic at StoneBridge Golf Club, in Bossier City.

Competing in this weekend’s tournament against the Gents and the Ladies will be Chicago State University, Lamar University, University of Louisiana at Monroe, McNeese State University Nicholls State University and Oral Roberts University.

With a roster that features just one senior, Gents head coach Martin Stuart brings a young team into the 2006-07 season.

Leading the Gents into the season will be senior David Viviano (Lafayette, La./St. Thomas More), who finished tied for 24th in the Mid-Continent Championships.

Under new head coach Mary Lynn Stuart, wife of Martin, the Ladies are coming off a season in which they finished fifth in the Mid-Continent Conference Championships.

Led by sophomore Jessica Garza (McKinney, Texas/McKinney North), an All-Mid-Continent selection last season, the Ladies look to build on last season’s conference tournament qualification.

Located in the StoneBridge development of North Bossier City, StoneBridge features an 18-hole Fred Couples/Gene Bates designed golf course, stretching to over 6900 yards with a par of 72.

StoneBridge and Centenary will host the Mid-Continent Championships in the Spring of 2007.
