—The Centenary volleyball team continued its participation in the Nike/LaQuinta Invitational by taking on the host TCU Horned Frogs on Saturday afternoon. The Ladies played well, especially in game two, but fell to TCU 3-0 (18-30, 28-30, 19-30).

Centenary (2-7) held an early 7-4 lead in game one after back-to-back kills from freshman Sarah Chambers (Plano, TX/Plano West) and consecutive aces off the arm of freshman Lauren Fielding (Plano, TX/Plano Senior). Another kill from Chambers saw Centenary still on top at 9-6 before TCU pushed for five straight points on a pair of kills from LeMeita Smith. The Ladies would be unable to get back on track as the Horned Frogs closed out the game.

TCU (10-1) grabbed a 10-7 lead in game two before Centenary responded with three points on Horned Frog attack errors to even the score. The game would go back and forth between the two teams until a TCU ace and a pair of attack errors by the Ladies gave the Horned Frogs a five-point advantage at 20-15. The Maroon and White again answered and slowly chipped away until a kill by sophomore Danielle Bochat (Boerne, TX/Boerne) tied the score at 21-21. A kill by Bochat and another by Chambers brought the tally to 29-28 in favor of the home team before a joust at the net was called out on Centenary for the final TCU point.

Centenary again jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the final game and held an 8-5 winning margin until TCU made its move behind several kills from Smith. The Horned Frogs took their first lead at 11-10 on a Ladies attack error and never looked back in finishing the contest.

Bochat led the Ladies attack with nine kills on the afternoon. Freshman Rebekah Hill (Carthage, TX/Carthage) enjoyed perhaps her best match in her young career as she hit at a .333 clip on three kills and no errors on nine attempts while playing right side. Fielding turned in a match-high 17 digs in the loss while junior Lindsay Bekelja (League City, TX/Clear Creek) finished with 22 assists.

Anna Vaughn of TCU compiled 12 kills in the win while Kourtney Edwards also reached double digits with 10 kills.

The Ladies conclude the TCU tournament at 7 p.m. on Saturday evening with a match against Davidson.
