Forward and Rifai Named to All-Tournament Team
SHREVEPORT, La. -- Four players from Oral Roberts University headline the all-tournament team for the 2006 Centenary Invitational. After helping lead the Golden Eagles to an undefeated record and the Centenary Invitational championship, seniors Carlos Veron and Brian Beckford, along with sophomore Carlos Pinto and freshman Juan Chang were named to the all-tournament team from Oral Roberts. Chang, a forward, led all tournament players with three goals and seven points, registering his first-career hat trick in the Golden Eagles 5-1 win over Georgia Southern Friday. Veron, a senior goalkeeper, allowed just one goal in the two games for Oral Roberts. Also named to the all-tournament team was Tim Hunter, Kezi Lara and Ernesto Rosales from Lipscomb University, who also finished with an undefeated 1-0-1 record. Lara, a freshman midfielder, scored three goals in the Eagles 4-3 overtime win over Centenary Friday, including scoring the game-winning goal in the overtime period. Named to the all-tournament team from Georgia Southern was freshman forward Jon Cox and senior defender Brad Mitchum. Junior Dustin Forward and freshman Stephen Rifai were named to the all-tournament team from Centenary.
