TULSA, Okla. -- On a goal by Brody Sager, the Centenary men’s soccer team (3-7-0) defeated the University of Tulsa (3-6-0), 1-0, Tuesday at Hurricane Soccer Stadium.

Helping the Gents win back-to-back games, Sager, a junior midfielder from Arlington, Texas, scored on a direct free kick in the 77th minute, registering his first goal of the season.

Following Sager’s tally, Centenary vigorously defended its net for the final 13 minutes of the contest, helping junior goalkeeper James Speed (Corpus Christi, Texas/King) capture his first shutout of the season. Speed, who made five saves in the win, stopped shots from Jose Parada and Brian McCurdy in the final moments of the game to preserve the victory.

Shots were in favor of Tulsa, 12-9, in the contest. Junior Aaron Volanski (Magnolia, Texas/Memphis) and Sager led the Gents in shots, each with two.

Looking to extend its winning streak, Centenary visits IUPUI in a Mid-Continent Conference game Saturday at 1 p.m.
