VALPARAISO, Ind.—The defending Mid-Continent Conference Tournament champion Valparaiso Crusaders were too much for the Centenary volleyball team on Saturday. The Ladies fell in consecutive games by the score of 16-30, 16-30, 17-30.

“We really showed our youth tonight against a very talented Valpo team,” said Centenary head coach Jenny Hazelwood. “We plan on working hard and learning from this match as we get deeper into the conference schedule.”

Valparaiso (11-5, 2-1 Mid-Con) hit .371 as a team led by Nicole Schulz (14 kills), Allison Sears (10 kills) and Jessie Fox (10 kills). The Crusaders held the Ladies to an even .000 hitting percentage (26 kills, 26 errors, 112 attempts) in large part to 13 blocks.

Centenary (8-13, 1-2 Mid-Con) received seven kills apiece from Rebecca Lunceford and Christina Nichols. Lauren Fielding collected 13 digs in the loss to push her consecutive double-digit digs streak to 18 matches. All total, the freshman has tallied at least 10 digs in 20 of her first 21 collegiate matches.

The Ladies will travel to Tulsa, Okla., to face Oral Roberts in a conference match on Friday at 7 p.m.
