SHREVEPORT—The Centenary volleyball team takes a 1-2 Mid-Con record into their conference match with Oral Roberts in Tulsa, Okla., on Friday evening. The Ladies have been playing well in winning three of their last five matches and the increased focus and success on the court by the team has resulted in an individual top 30 appearance in the NCAA statistical rankings for freshman Christina Nichols (Katy, TX/Katy).

Centenary (8-13, 1-2 Mid-Con) leads the league as a team with a 2.06 service aces per game average. Nichols, who leads the Mid-Con individually in service aces per game, is now 27th in the NCAA in the category at 0.62 per game. Freshman Lauren Fielding (Plano, TX/Plano Senior) is third in aces per game (0.52) and fourth in digs per game (4.74) within the conference while sophomore Danielle Bochat (Boerne, TX/Boerne) ranks seventh in digs (3.41 per game) and ninth in kills (2.69 per game). Junior Lindsay Bekelja (League City, TX/Clear Creek) sits third in the assists department with 9.46 per game.

Oral Roberts (14-6, 3-0 Mid-Con) was selected as the preseason favorite to win the Mid-Con regular season title. The Golden Eagles have won 12 consecutive matches, including all three of their conference match-ups thus far. As a team, ORU leads the Mid-Con in hitting percentage, kills, assists, and blocks in large part due to the outstanding play of senior Ori Zuzic. The three-time player of the week leads the league in kills (12th in the NCAA) at 5.10 per game and is second in aces (0.57 per game).

The match between Centenary and Oral Roberts will begin at 7 p.m. on Friday evening.
