ROCHESTER, Mich. -- Two goals by junior Kristi Tomczyk led Oakland University (4-9-0, 1-1-0) to a 3-0 win over the Centenary women’s soccer team (4-9-0, 0-3-0) Friday at the Oakland Soccer Field, on the campus of Oakland University.

Tomczyk, a forward and leading scorer for the Golden Grizzlies, scored back-to-back goals in the second half, helping Oakland capture their first Mid-Continent Conference win of the season.

Leading 1-0 in the second half, Tomczyk squared up to the Ladies net near the left side of the box and drove a shot into the top-right corner of the net in the 61st minute.

Just five minutes later, Tomczyk struck again, following up a shot from senior Susann Kamrud. After Kamrud took the initial shot from the top of the box, Tomczyk tapped the rebound over the goal line for her sixth goal of the season in the 66th minute.

The player of the game, Tomczyk led all players with seven shots in the Oakland victory.

Oakland got on the board early Friday, forcing the Ladies to play from behind for majority of the contest.

Just four minutes into the game, Marianne Samdal got free in the Centenary box and tucked the ball low into the net for her third goal of the season.

Facing a barrage of shots, Centenary junior goalkeeper Ali Hilsher (Tulsa, Okla./Washington) made a season-high 10 saves in the loss.

The Ladies return to action Oct. 13, hosting Mid-Con leaders Valparaiso at Mayo Field at 7 p.m.
