SHREVEPORT, La. -- Continuing to build as a team, the Centenary softball team won all three of its games at the Centenary Fall Tournament Saturday at the Centenary Softball Complex.

Outscoring their opponents, 22-5, over Saturday’s three games, the Ladies earned victories over Bossier Parish Community College (6-0), Texarkana College (8-1) and Louisiana Tech (8-4).

In total, Centenary has scored 38 runs over six games the past two weekends, surrendering just eight runs.

Reflecting on the past two weekends, Centenary head coach Mark Montgomery is happy with the depth his team has shown in the six games.

"We saw great things out of lots of individuals," Montgomery said. "We have seen all four of our pitchers pitch well and we have seen all of our hitters (sometime during the tournament) hit well."

Illustrating the quality depth of the Ladies, 12 of 17 players collected hits in Saturday’s three games, with three players hitting home runs.

Leading the Ladies with five RBI in Saturday’s three wins, Allison Shepperd (Marshall, Texas/Marshall) went 6-for-10 from the plate with two runs scored and 10 total bases. In the 8-1 win over Texarkana, the freshman led off the second inning with a home run over the left field wall, igniting the Ladies to a three-run inning.

Fellow-freshman Haley Bassett (Bossier City/Airline) contributed with four RBI Saturday, leading the Ladies with four runs scored and going 3-for-8 from the plate.

Joining Shepperd with home runs Saturday, junior Lindsey Virdell (Claremore, Okla./Verdigris) and sophomore Allison McClain (Diboll, Texas/Diboll) both finished with multiple RBI in the three games.

On the mound, Ryan Thacker (Alto, Texas/Alto), Stacy Whitmer (Henderson, Ky./Henderson County), Kelsey Greeson (Temple, Texas/Belton) and Lauren Highsmith (Houston/Lamar) combined for 18 strikeouts over three games, limiting the three opponents to a .200 batting average.

Concluding the Fall exhibition schedule, the Ladies begin the 2007 season in Baton Rouge, La., competing in the Easton Tiger Classic, on the campus of Louisiana State University, Feb. 9-11.
