SHREVEPORT—The Centenary men’s basketball team will take to the court on Friday evening for their first official practice of the 2006-07 campaign. The Gents return five players including seniors Larry Logan and Alexander Starr in addition to sophomore standout Tyrone Hamilton.

Rob Flaska begins his second year at the helm of the Centenary men’s basketball program and expects his team to be much improved after the introduction year that was the 2005-06 season. The Gents finished the year with a 4-23 record, but lost 11 games by 10 points or less, including five contests by fewer than five points.

Starr and Logan are returning starters that will provide leadership and quality minutes to the Gents lineup. Starr averaged 9.5 ppg last season and led the team in field goal and free throw percentage as well as steals and assists from his small forward position. Logan added 7.3 ppg and pulled down a team-high 4.9 rebounds per contest.

Hamilton sat out the 2005-06 season and returns to the roster after a successful freshman campaign in 2004-05 after which he was named to the Mid-Continent Conference All-Freshman Team. He averaged 12.5 ppg and led Centenary in assists and three-pointers.

Sophomores Bryan Baumann and E.J. Kusnyer are also back for the Gents as are redshirt freshmen Travis Hill and Jeff Montague. The Maroon and White also welcome six newcomers to the squad, four transfers and a pair of freshmen.

The Gents kick-off the season in Fort Worth, Texas, with a 7:05 p.m. tip time against TCU on November 11th. The Centenary home-opener features Texas State at 7 p.m. on November 14th in the Gold Dome.
