HOUMA, La. -- The Centenary women’s golf team stands eighth after Monday’s first round in the Nicholls State Lady Colonel Invitational, played at the Ellendale Country Club, in Houma, La.

Shooting a team score of 332, the Ladies were led by sophomores Tracy Williams (Van Alstyne, Texas/Van Alystne) and Jessica Garza (McKinney, Texas/McKinney) in Monday’s first round. The duo both shot 8-over 80 Monday, both standing tied for 19th entering Tuesday’s final 18 holes.

Leading the team standings, South Alabama shot 7-over 295 as a team, led by Michelle Toth and Darah Newell, both shooting 1-over 73 in Monday’s first round. South Alabama holds a 17 stroke lead over Central Arkansas (312) entering Tuesday’s final round.

Shasta Averyhardt of Jackson State leads the individual standings by one stroke, shooting par 72 Monday, one stroke ahead of Toth and Newell.

Tuesday’s final round begins with Troy, Jackson State and McNeese State teeing off at 8 a.m.
