Ladies Travel to Western Illinois for Season Finale

SHREVEPORT, La. -- The Centenary women’s soccer team (4-10-1, 0-4-1) travels to Macomb, Ill. and MacKenzie Alumni Field Saturday, facing Western Illinois (9-7-0, 2-3-0) in the season finale of the 2006 season. Game time at MacKenzie Field is set for noon.

In this weekend’s game, the Ladies look to end the regular season on a good note.

Leading Centenary in scoring and among the Mid-Continent Conference leaders in goals and goals per game (0.42), freshman Stefani Robbs (Dallas/R.L. Turner) has five goals and 11 points this season. Robbs, a forward, has two game-winning goals this season, standing tied for fourth in the conference.

Behind Robbs on the Ladies in scoring, junior Bre Fletcher (Schertz, Texas/Samuel Clemens) and sophomore Lauren Stanley (Mesquite, Texas/Poteet) have six and four points, respectively.

Leading the Mid-Con with 89 saves this season, junior Ali Hilsher (Tulsa, Okla./Washington) has a 1.83 goals-against average in 15 starts. Hilsher has a .774 save percentage this season.

Western Illinois enters Saturday’s game winning two of its last three contests, with the Westerwinds shutting out their opponents in the two victories.

Leading the Westerwinds in scoring, junior Robyn Ruypers has five goals and 12 points, scoring two game-winning goals. A defender, Ruypers is second on the team with 34 shots in 16 games this season.

Junior Misako Inaba stands second on Western Illinois with 10 points on three goals and four assists. Inaba has scored two goals in two of the last three games for the Westerwinds.

In goal, senior Samantha Clark has a 1.07 goals-against average in 15 games this season. With a conference-leading five shutouts this season, Clark has a 9-5-0 record.

Last season, Western Illinois captured a 5-1 win over the Ladies, with sophomore midfielder Ashley Hoch scoring two goals and adding an assist to lead the Westerwinds.
