Files associated with this release: Final Statistics Lauren Fielding set a new single-game record for digs SHREVEPORT, La. -- Led by a record-breaking performance by Lauren Fielding , the Centenary volleyball team (11-20, 2-7) defeated Oakland University (1-21, 0-9), 3-2, Saturday at the Gold Dome. After falling in the third and fourth games, the Ladies came back to win the fifth and deciding game to capture the Mid-Continent Conference victory. Playing a key role in the fifth game, Fielding broke the Centenary single-game record for digs in a game in Saturday’s win over the Golden Grizzlies. The Plano, Texas, native, recorded 37 digs Saturday, including five in the fifth game. With Oakland leading 12-7, three points away from victory, Centenary started its comeback run led by a kill by Danielle Bochat (Boerne, Texas/Boerne) to cut the deficit to four. After Bochat’s kill, the Ladies miraculously scored seven-straight points to capture the fifth game and win the match. Bochat picked up four kills during the decisive final run, leading all players in the fifth game with six kills. On the final play, with Centenary leading 14-12, Oakland sophomore Leah Dupuie’s attempt for a kill was blocked by Ashlee Freeman (Houston/Bellaire) and Lindsay Bekelja (League City, Texas/Clear Creek) , sealing the game for the Ladies. Capturing the first game, 30-24, Centenary used a 4-0 run at the end of the second game, led by three kills by freshman Sarah Chambers (Plano, Texas/Plano West Senior) , to go up two games on the Golden Grizzlies. Leading by two games, Centenary fell in the third game, 30-24, as the two teams played even. In the fourth game, the Ladies led 14-13, but surrendered five consecutive points on two occasions, losing the game, 30-24, and forcing a fifth game. Files associated with this release: Box Score Lauren Fielding led all players with 19 digs Friday SHREVEPORT, La. -- The Centenary volleyball team (10-20, 1-7) fought hard against Valparaiso (16-9, 6-2) Friday, however fell 3-1 to the Crusaders at the Gold Dome. Down 29-28 and facing match point in the third game, the Ladies pulled together and forced a fourth game, scoring three-straight points to capture the game from the second place team in the Mid-Con, highlighted by a block by  Ashlee Freeman (Houston/Bellaire) and Rebekah Hill (Carthage, Texas/Carthage) . In the fourth game, the Crusaders stormed out to a 10-4 lead, led by five kills by freshman Angie Porche. Porche finished the game with a game-high 20 kills, leading Valpo in kills this season. The Crusaders continued to build on the momentum and closed out the match. Dropping the opening game, 30-25, Centenary had its opportunity to pull even with the Crusaders late in the second game. With the score 25-20 in favor of Valparaiso, a kill by Lindsay Bekelja (League City, Texas/Clear Creek) pulled the Ladies within four points of tying the game and evening the match at one game apiece. Valparaiso maintained its lead following the Bekelja kill, scoring three-straight points to take a 28-21 lead. Porche and sophomore Allison Sears had kills for the Crusaders to extend the lead to seven. Valparaiso clinched the second game, 30-24, with a kill by Sears, who finished with 16 kills in the match. Freshman Lauren Fielding (Plano, Texas/Plano Senior) led all players with 19 digs in the contest. At the net, Centenary had a 8-5 advantage in team blocks. Kim Bukowski of the Crusaders had a match-high 54 assists, while Bekelja had 31 for the Ladies.
