SHREVEPORT, La. -- Centenary women’s soccer freshman Stefani Robbs was named to the 2006 Mid-Continent Conference All-Newcomer Team, announced by the Mid-Con Wednesday.

Leading the Ladies in scoring this season, Robbs, a forward from Dallas, had five goals and 11 points in 13 games, scoring two game-winning goals. Finishing tied for seventh in the Mid-Con in goals, Robbs ranked in the top 10 in the conference in both points per game (0.85) and goals per game (0.38). Her two game-winners tied her for fourth in the conference.

Two Oakland players earned player of the year honors, led by junior forward Kristi Tomczyk.

Named Mid-Con Offensive Player of the Year, Tomczyk led the conference in scoring this season. In 16 games, Tomczyk was credited with a conference-leading 12 goals and 26 points, registering 19 of her 26 points in Mid-Con games. Tomczyk led the Mid-Con with nine goals in six conference games, leading the Golden Grizzlies to this weekend’s conference championships.

A teammate of Tomczyk, Oakland senior defender Cat Panabaker earned 2006 Mid-Con Defensive Player of the Year honors. Panabaker, one assist for one point in 14 games, helped lead the Oakland defense to a team goals-against average of 1.17 in six Mid-Con games, surrendering seven goals in conference games this season.

In leading Valparaiso to the 2006 Mid-Con regular season crown, Crusaders freshman forward Sarah Jewell was named Mid-Con Newcomer of the Year, registering 10 goals and 22 points in 18 games this season. In addition to earning All-Newcomer accolades, Jewell was named first team All-Mid-Con, one of four Crusader players who earned all-conference honors.

Valparaiso head coach Stephen Anthony was named Mid-Con Coach of the Year, leading the Crusaders to an undefeated record in conference games this season (4-0-2).

Centenary concluded the 2006 season with a 4-11-1 overall record.
