SHREVEPORT, La. -- Centenary men’s golf sophomore John Hogan was named Mid-Continent Conference Men’s Golfer of the Week, announced by the Mid-Con Wednesday.

Hogan, a native of Eden Prairie, Minn., finished in a tie for 24th in this week’s rain-shortened Louisiana-Lafayette Battle on the Bend, played at Cypress Bend, in Many, La. The sophomore shot a season-low score for 18 holes in Sunday’s first round, carding a 2-over 74 in the first round, standing in a tie for seventh place after Sunday’s round. Hogan finished the tournament with a score of 151, shooting a 77 in Tuesday’s final round.

Playing in two tournaments this season, Hogan lowered his scoring average to a team-leading 77.0. He had his best finish of the 2006-07 season thus far in this week’s tournament, finishing in the top 25.

The sophomore became the first student-athlete from the Centenary men’s golf team to earn Mid-Con weekly golf honors.

With this week’s tournament in the books, the Gents concluded the Fall portion of the 2006-07 season.
