FORT WORTH, Texas—The Centenary men’s basketball team opens its season on Saturday at 7:05 p.m. against TCU in Fort Worth, Texas. A young team with only four upperclassmen, the Gents will get their first chance to see how they stack up with another squad after not having the benefit of an exhibition game in the preseason.

Centenary returns seniors Larry Logan and Alexander Starr from last year’s roster and will look to lean on the two lettermen in the early part of the schedule. Logan averaged 7.3 points per game to go with a team-best 4.9 rebounds per contest in 2005-06. Starr, the team’s MVP, added 9.5 points per game while leading the Gents in field goal percentage (.533), assists (85), and steals (37). He finished second in scoring and rebounding (4.7 rpg.).

Sophomores Tyrone Hamilton (12.5 ppg. in 2004-05) and Bryan Baumann (7.1 ppg.) also return to add stability to the line-up, but newcomers Chase Adams (Baltimore, Md.), Jerrald Bonham (Plano, Texas), Nick Stallings (New Orleans, La.), and Lance Hill (Houston, Texas) will be expected to contribute immediately.

TCU finished its 2005-06 slate with a 6-25 record, including 2-14 (9th place) in the Mountain West Conference. The Horned Frogs are 10-8 all-time against Centenary and won the last meeting with the Gents in 2003 by the score of 102-89. TCU defeated the Lithuania National Team in its only exhibition 103-75. Five players scored in double figures for TCU, led by Kevin Langford’s 18 points.

Daniel-Meyer Coliseum on the campus of TCU is familiar grounds to Centenary head coach Rob Flaska as he served as an assistant on the Horned Frogs staff under Billy Tubbs from 1999 to 2002.

The game can be heard locally in the Shreveport area on KSCL 91.3 FM with the pre-game show beginning at 6:45 p.m. The broadcast can also be found over the internet at
