Gents Host Texas State in Home Opener

SHREVEPORT—The Centenary men’s basketball team will host Texas State in the Gold Dome at 7 p.m. on Tuesday night. The game will be the home opener for the Gents, who are coming off a tough 72-66 loss at the hands of TCU Saturday on the road.


Centenary (0-1) received strong efforts from Alexander Starr and Tyrone Hamilton in the loss to TCU. Starr collected a double double with 13 points and 10 rebounds while Hamilton tossed in 11 points in his first game back with the team since the 2004-05 season. Larry Logan scored nine points on 4-of-6 shooting from the field and Nick Stallings and Bryan Baumann each contributed eight points apiece.


Texas State (1-0) defeated Dallas Baptist 106-93 in its season opener on Friday. The Bobcats shot a sizzling 55 percent from the field and received 27 points from Brandon Bush. Charles Dotson added 18 points in the win and two more players reached double figures for Texas State.


The Gents are 3-1 all-time against Texas State and won the last meeting of the series 70-63 in the Gold Dome in the early part of the 2000-01 season.
