Montoya set a new team record
in the 100 fly Saturday

FORT WORTH, Texas -- The Centenary men’s swim team fell 68-34 to TCU Saturday at the TCU Student Recreation Center.

In Saturday’s meet, the Gents captured four event wins, highlighted by a sweep of three events and one new program record.

In the 100 fly, freshman Wladamir Montoya (Cedar Park, Texas/Cedar Park) set a new Gents record with a time of 52.00, finishing third in the event. Montoya broke the former mark of Jonathan Harrop, who previously held the team record in the 100 fly with a time of 52.14.

Sweeping the 100 free Saturday, sophomore Chase Lambert (Benton, Ark./Bryant) won the event with a time of 48.02. Behind Lambert was freshman Jamie Stults (Allen, Texas/Allen) and sophomore Randy Myers (Round Rock, Texas/Round Rock) with times of 49.79 and 52.82 for second and third place, respectively.

The win in the 100 free was the second on the day for Lambert, who took the 200 free with a time of 1:44.79.

In the event sweep of the 100 backstroke, freshman Sam Hayes (Alexandria, La./Alexandria Senior) had a time of 55.98 for the win, followed by junior Adam D’Aquin (Baton Rouge, La./Catholic) and freshman Alex Opland (Marietta, Ga./Mount Paran Christian).

Stults, junior Kyle McKee (Louisville, Ky./Tara) and freshman David Moss (Chelsea, Okla./Chelsea) completed a sweep in the 100 breaststroke, with Stults winning the event with a time of 1:02.09.

Facing the Horned Frogs from the Mountain West Conference, Centenary showed valiant effort in the four wins.

Centenary next travels to St. Louis University Dec. 19-20, not competing for close to a month.
