Gents Set to Rumble with Bobby Knight, Texas Tech

LUBBOCK, Texas—The Centenary men’s basketball team looks to keep its current winning streak alive Saturday when the Gents take on Texas Tech in Lubbock, Texas, at 1 p.m. Centenary has won two games in a row with victories over UALR and Nicholls State in the Gold Dome.

 

Centenary (4-4) is at .500 in a season against Division I opponents for the first time since the conclusion of the 2003-04 campaign when the Gents finished 16-12. The Maroon and White are leading the Mid-Continent Conference in scoring at 79 points per game while also boasting the best field goal percentage (.492), free throw percentage (.758), and have dished out the most assists per game (14.88).

 

Alexander Starr is leading the Mid-Con in steals per game (2.50) and Chase Adams is tops in three-point field goal percentage (.600). Larry Logan continues to pace the Gents on offense at 13.9 ppg while Starr’s 6.0 rpg is a team best. Tyrone Hamilton is averaging 18.7 ppg and 4.0 assists over his last three games.

 

Texas Tech (7-3) is coming off of a 66-59 win over Louisiana Tech in Ruston on Wednesday. Jarrius Jackson is pouring in 21.9 ppg for the Red Raiders and Martin Zeno is adding 16.2 ppg. Head coach Bobby Knight will be looking for his 877th career win to move him into second place all alone on the all-time NCAA list. He is currently tied with legendary Kentucky coach Adolph Rupp.
