SHREVEPORT, La. -- The Centenary baseball team spent Friday morning putting some holiday cheer into the hearts of the children of the Shriners Hospital for Children in Shreveport.

Bringing gifts to liven up the holiday spirit of the children, Centenary head coach Ed McCann and the Gents visited the Shriners Hospital located at 3100 Samford Avenue in Shreveport. Spending the morning interacting with the children and handing out gifts, McCann acknowledged that the team is grateful for its opportunity to visit the area hospital.

"The visit to the Shriners Hospital is truly a blessing to all of the Centenary baseball team," McCann said. "It gives us an opportunity to give back to the youth and reflect back on our own childhood and those individuals who had a large influence on our lives."

As they left the hospital, the Gents were treated with smiles and a heart-felt goodbye from the various children who had visited with the team earlier in the morning.

Together through the years, both the hospital and the Gents have built a relationship, as the team visits the Shriners Hospital at various times during the year.

Part of a network of 22 nationwide pediatric hospitals, the Shriners Hospitals for Children provides specialized care for orthopaedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries and cleft lip and palate. All services are provided at no charge.
