Gents Look for Season Sweep Over Texas State

SAN MARCOS, TEXAS—The Centenary men’s basketball team continues its three-game road trip through the state of Texas on Saturday when the Gents lock up with Texas State in San Marcos. The Gents have already defeated the Bobcats once this season in the Gold Dome 91-85 and look to make it a season sweep over the Southland Conference foes.


Centenary (5-8) is coming off of a 76-66 loss to the University of Texas on Thursday. The Gents are led by Shreveport native Tyrone Hamilton who is fifth in the Mid-Continent Conference in scoring with a 15.6 ppg average. The sophomore has scored an average of 24.5 points over his last two contests.


The Gents rank first in the Mid-Con in scoring offense at 72 ppg and are also tops in steals per game at 8.31. Centenary is second in the league in field goal percentage (46.7%) and assists (13.38 apg).


Texas State (5-7) boasts a 5-1 record at home. The Bobcats defeated Texas A&M-International on Thursday 97-78 in Strahan Coliseum but did not fare as well in their previous two games on the road against Texas (lost 96-70) and UTEP (lost 108-60).


Brandon Bush leads Texas State in scoring at 13.5 ppg and in rebounding at 5.2 rpg. Charles Dotson is also averaging double figures for the Bobcats at 12.2 ppg.
