Bush Named Mid-Con Co-Player of the Week

Bush is averaging 21.7 points
in the past three games

SHREVEPORT, La. -- Sophomore guard Cierra Bush was named Mid-Continent Conference Co-Player of the Week Tuesday, becoming the first Centenary women’s basketball player to earn weekly honors this season.

Bush, a native of Campti, La., has led Centenary in scoring in the past two games, helping the Ladies capture a 75-59 win over McNeese State Saturday at the Gold Dome. Against the Cowgirls, she had a game-high 18 points and seven rebounds with five assists, going 7-for-12 (.583) from the field. Saturday’s game was the third-straight game Bush has scored in double figures, averaging 21.7 points in the last three games for Centenary.

This season, Bush is averaging 9.7 ppg., 5.7 rpg., 2.3 apg. and 1.6 spg., shooting 43.3 percent from the floor. She stands 10th in the Mid-Con in rebounds and eighth in steals.

Bush shared weekly honors with Elisha Turek of Oral Roberts.

Centenary (4-10, 0-0 Mid-Con) opens up conference play Saturday when it hosts Western Illinois at the Gold Dome at 4:30 p.m. The Ladies also host Valparaiso Monday at 7 p.m. This season, Centenary has a 3-3 (.500) record at home and look to start off the conference schedule on a good note.
