Maggie Vaughan set three
school records in December

SHREVEPORT, La. -- Freshman swimmer Maggie Vaughan continues a remarkable start to her collegiate career, earning yet another accolade Wednesday. Vaughan was named the Mid-Continent Conference Women’s Athlete of the Month for December, announced by the conference office Wednesday.

A native of Clinton, Miss., Vaughan set three Centenary women’s swimming records in the month of December, standing amongst the Mid-Con elite in her respective events.

Registering an NCAA Division I top 100 time in the 1,000 free, Vaughan broke her own school record in the event with a time of 10:24.62 at St. Louis University Dec. 19. She continued her outstanding effort the following afternoon, breaking her Centenary record in the 500 free with a time of 5:06.51 and setting a new school record in the 200 free with a time of 1:56.76.

This season, Vaughan has a top three time in the Mid-Con in both the 500 free and 1,000 free.

Vaughan and the Ladies continue to prepare for the conference tournament next month, hosting Delta State at the Centenary Fitness Center Saturday.
