Centenary (4-17, 0-6) continues a four-game homestand, hosting IUPUI (7-12, 2-4) Monday at the Gold Dome. Tipoff against the Jaguars is set for 7 p.m.

In Monday’s game, the Ladies look to capture their first conference win of the season and their first win over IUPUI in program history.

Oakland came into the Gold Dome and defeated Centenary, 73-61, Saturday, moving into sole possession of first place in the Mid-Continent Conference standings.

The Golden Grizzlies won their fifth-straight game to move their record to 5-1 in conference play, defeating Centenary in the interior, outscoring the Ladies, 40-16, in the paint.

Behind 16 points by Hanna Reising, Oakland shot 42.9 percent from the floor, registering 12 steals as a team. Bonnie Baker, who chipped in with six points and four rebounds, led all players with six steals in 27 minutes of play.

Centenary cut the Oakland lead to six points on three occasions in the second half, however the Ladies were unable to get over the hump, allowing the Golden Grizzlies to push the lead to as many as 20 points late in the second half.

Senior guard Holli Wilkins scored 18 points to lead the Ladies, hitting four three-pointers and grabbing five rebounds.

With the loss, Centenary brought its home record this season to 3-8.

Scoring a team-leading 18 points against Oakland Saturday, senior guard Holli Wilkins moved closer to the 1,000-point plateau for her collegiate career.

With 954 career points, Wilkins is in line to become just the third player in Centenary history to score 1,000 points in their collegiate career, leading the Ladies with a 12.0 ppg. average this season.

Named to the 2006-07 Preseason All-Mid-Con Team, Wilkins is seventh in the conference in scoring this season.

Sophomore Cierra Bush scored 13 points in Saturday’s loss to Oakland, marking the fourth game in a row the guard has scored in double figures.

Although breaking her streak of consecutive games of 20-plus points (3), Bush raised her season scoring average to 11.2 ppg., continuing to develop in her second year with the Ladies.

Bush stands ninth in the Mid-Con in scoring this season, standing 10th in rebounds per game (6.0).

Perhaps needing to get the monkey off of their backs, Centenary continues to struggle in the first half in terms of leading at the break.

In just four games this season, the Ladies have led at the intermission, winning all four of those games, winless when trailing at the break.

This season, Centenary is averaging 27.3 points in the opening half, while averaging 31.2 points after the intermission.

Center Leslie Forest stands as the lone freshman in the top five shot blockers in the Mid-Con. Forest, who has 19 blocks this season, stands fourth in the conference in blocked shots (0.95 bpg.).

This season, Forest has blocked three shots in a game on two occasions.

This season, Centenary has a 4-1 record when scoring 70 or more points, falling only to Louisiana-Monroe Nov. 30 (74-71).

Although struggling in conference play, the Ladies are getting open shots, unable to convert and shooting 36.6 percent from the floor for the season.

For the last three games, Centenary has been stuck on 61 points, scoring the same number of the points against Chicago State (Jan. 20), Oral Roberts (Jan. 22) and Oakland (Jan. 27).

Centenary trails the all-time series with IUPUI, 0-6, however the Ladies have played the Jaguars tough at the Gold Dome of late.

In the three lifetime meetings against IUPUI in Shreveport, Centenary has fell by an average of five points per game.

In last season’s meeting with the Jaguars at the Gold Dome, played Jan. 9, 2006, IUPUI defeated Centenary by a score of 70-62. For the Ladies, senior guard Holli Wilkins had a double-double, scoring 23 points and adding 12 rebounds.

Jernisha Cann led the Jaguars with 17 points and 14 rebounds.

Sophomore forward Jernisha Cann leads IUPUI into Monday’s game against the Ladies. Starting every game for the Jaguars this season, Cann is averaging 12.5 ppg. and 9.4 rpg., leading the Mid-Con with 2.5 steals per game. The go-to scorer for IUPUI, Cann had 13 points and eight rebounds, with a game-high six steals against Oral Roberts Saturday, as the Jaguars fell, 71-56, on the road to the Golden Eagles.

Fellow-sophomore Tanika Mays is averaging 11.0 ppg., while chipping-in with 6.1 rpg. In Saturday’s game against Oral Roberts struggled from the field, going 0-for-7 with five rebounds.

Alicia Booyer is averaging 10.2 ppg. and leads IUPUI with 11 blocks this season.

As a team, IUPUI is hitting 38.9 percent of its shots, outrebounding its opponents with a 35.3 rebound per game average. In 19 games, IUPUI is averaging 58.6 ppg.

Centenary hits the road for two conference games against Valparaiso and Western Illinois. Game time for Saturday's game against the Crusaders is set for 1:35 p.m.
