WILKINS CLOSING ON MARK

Wilkins has led the Ladies in scoring in the past two games.

WILKINS CLOSES IN ON TWO RECORDS

Senior Holli Wilkins has a chance to move up in the Centenary record books.

Standing second in Centenary history in career three-pointers made, Wilkins needs 12 three-point field goals to move into a tie with Julie Danieles (163) as the all-time leader in three’s at Centenary.

Wilkins has 151 career three-pointers to stand second in Ladies history in three’s, leading the team with 40 three-point field goals this season. She is third in the Mid-Con in three-pointers per game, averaging 1.82 per game.

The senior guard has 233 career assists, needing 10 assists to move into second place in Ladies history in assists.

BUSH GRABS CAREER HIGH

Leading the Ladies in rebounding this season, sophomore guard Cierra Bush grabbed a career high 14 rebounds against IUPUI Monday.

Bush, who registered her second double-double of the season Monday against the Jaguars, leads the Ladies in rebounding this season, averaging 6.4 rebounds per game.

Her previous career high for boards in a game was 12.

LAST GAME: LADIES CANNOT BREAK SLIDE AGAINST IUPUI

Centenary struggled in a 67-55 loss to IUPUI Monday at the Gold Dome.

The Ladies hit just 27.6 percent of their shots, including making just six field in the second half, in the 12-point loss to the Jaguars. Trailing by just two points at the start of the second half, Centenary allowed IUPUI to go on a 9-0 run to increase the lead to 11 points early in the second half, unable to come within nine points for the remainder of the contest.

Led by 22 points by sophomore forward Jernisha Cann, IUPUI shot 47.5 percent for the contest, outscoring Centenary, 42-18, in the paint.

LIFETIME AGAINST VALPARAISO

Centenary remains winless in the lifetime series against Valparaiso, with an all-time record of 0-7 against the Crusaders.

In three visits to Athletics-Recreation Center, the Ladies have fell by an average of 28 points, looking to break the streak in Saturday’s game against the Crusaders.

Last playing Valparaiso on the road Feb. 6, 2006, Centenary was led by nine points and eight rebounds by sophomore guard Cierra Bush, falling to the Crusaders, 91-44.

A LOOK AT VALPARAISO

Valpo stands second in the Mid-Con standings with a 5-2 record in conference play this season.

Led by Betsy Rietema, the Crusaders are 3-1 in their last four games, all played on the road. Rietema is averaging a team-high 13.7 ppg. and 2.7 rpg. In Monday’s 52-51 win at UMKC, the forward had 13 points and five boards, taking a team-high 14 shots.

At home this season, Valpo has a 5-3 record.

TWO STATS FOR SUCCESS

Needing a full 40-minute effort against Valparaiso Saturday, Centenary remains undefeated this season when leading at the half.

Leading in four games at the intermission, the Ladies have a 4-0 record this season when scoring more points than their opponent in the first half.

When scoring 70 or more points in a contest, Centenary has a 4-1 record this season, falling to only Louisiana-Monroe Nov. 30. This season, the Ladies are averaging 58.3 ppg., looking to go above and beyond their season scoring average against Valparaiso Saturday.

WILKINS BECOMES LEADER

Recording a game-high five steals against McNeese State Dec. 30, senior guard Holli Wilkins became the all-time steals leader in Centenary history, passing former Ladies guard Julie Danieles for the top spot.

Wilkins remains amongst the steal leaders in the conference, averaging 2.3 spg. this season and standing third in the Mid-Con. The senior guard broke the single-season steals record in Ladies history in her junior year, registering 82 steals to finish eighth nationally.

Wilkins has an opportunity to lead the conference in steals for the second consecutive season.

LADIES SNAP STREAK

In the 84-70 win over Sam Houston State, Centenary ended its road losing streak stretching over five seasons.

Not earning a road win since the 2002-03 season, the Ladies’ road losing streak spanned 55 games. Prior to the win over Sam Houston State Dec. 17, Centenary last defeated an opponent on the road Dec. 7, 2002, winning over St. Francis (NY) College.
