Ladies Tennis Falls to McNeese State 7-0

LAKE CHARLES—The Centenary women's tennis team opened its 2007 season with a 7-0 loss to McNeese State on Saturday afternoon. The Cowgirls began the match by picking up the doubles point with victories in all three spots.

Inga Efimenko and Romana Hueller won the first match of the day by defeating Centenary’s Kate Buchanan and Courtney Myers 8-1 at the no. 3 doubles. McNeese's no. 1 doubles team made up of Urska Dobersek and Victoria Martinez defeated Kristina Collins and Christine Majchrowicz of the Ladies 8-0 to secure the doubles points. McNeese’s Natascha Jongeneel teamed with Petra Gudelj at the no. 2 doubles to defeat Lindsay Ezell and Jennifer Majchrowicz 8-2.

McNeese dominated the singles competition by winning all six matches. Gudelj's 6-2, 6-1 victory over Myers at the no. 4 singles secured the overall match victory for the Cowgirls.

Dobersek defeated Collins in straight sets 6-0, 6-0 at the top singles position. Martinez defeated Christine Majchrowicz 7-5, 6-3 at no. 2, Jongeneel defeated Ezell 6-2, 6-4 at no. 3, Efimenko defeated Jennifer Majchrowicz 6-1, 6-1 at no. 5 and Hueller defeated Buchanan in straight sets 6-0, 6-0 at no. 6.
