SHREVEPORT—The Centenary softball team swept all three of its scrimmages against Bossier Parish Community College on Sunday by the scores of 4-1, 3-0, and 8-3. On the day, Centenary hitters collected 28 hits compared to 11 for BPCC and the Ladies pitchers struck out 27 hitters to just eight for the Cavaliers hurlers. The Centenary pitching staff only issued one walk in 15 innings of work.

Game one was won 4-1 by Centenary and featured strong pitching from Ryan Thacker. The freshman tossed all five innings while allowing only an unearned run on two hits and striking out 12 batters. Offensively, eight different players pounded out hits led by Jennifer Mango who also finished with a run scored and an RBI.

The second game ended 3-0 in favor of the Ladies as once again the pitching staff looked impressive. Freshman Kelsey Greeson notched the complete game shutout, giving up just one hit and striking out six. Lindsey Virdell and Jennifer Martin each went 2-for-2 at the plate while Allison McClain was 1-for-2 with a run and a RBI.

The final game saw the Ladies score five runs in the second inning while batting around to easily take the victory 8-3. Freshman Stacy Whitmer went the distance, scattering eight hits in addition to striking out nine batters. Lauren Flowers went 3-for-3 with two runs scored and Amy Wiedeman was 2-for-3. McClain scored three runs in the contest while Brittany Williams and Lindsey Jones each scored twice.
