Returning home following a two-game roadtrip, the Centenary women’s basketball team (4-20, 0-9) take to the Gold Dome floor to host UMKC (7-16, 3-5) Saturday. Tipoff is set for 4:30 p.m.

In Saturday’s game, part of a doubleheader with the Centenary men’s basketball team, the Ladies look to earn their first victory in the all-time series against the Kangaroos.

Previously, Centenary has dropped all seven encounters with UMKC, falling this season by seven points to the Kangaroos when traveling to Kansas City.

Combined, this week’s two opponents, UMKC and Southern Utah, have a road record of 3-19 this season, with the Kangaroos coming into Saturday’s contest with a 3-9 road record. This weekend, the Ladies look to end a 10-game losing streak and capture their first win in conference play when they host UMKC.

In this season’s previous contest with the Kangaroos, Centenary played a very close game with UMKC, falling, 64-57, in the final moments.

Leading the way for the Ladies was sophomore guard Cierra Bush, who finished with a game-high 22 points and added five rebounds. Bush was part of a Centenary effort that erased a three-point halftime deficit and tied the game at 41-41 with 11:44 left in the second half.

Following the early Ladies’ run following the intermission, UMKC went on a 11-0 run midway through the second half to take the lead on Centenary, never to trail again for the remainder of the contest.

Guard Brittny Picconi led the Kangaroos with 22 points, with five rebounds and five assists.

Senior guard Holli Wilkins miss the last two games for the Ladies with an undisclosed leg injury. Wilkins, leading the Ladies with a 12.4 ppg. scoring average, is just 27 points away from amassing the 1,000 point mark for her career.

With 973 points in her career, Wilkins stands sixth in the Mid-Con in scoring this season, leading the Ladies in scoring in nine games this year.

Already this season, the senior guard has set a new career high for points in a game, scoring 31 points against Texas-Pan American in the season-opener.

This season at the Gold Dome, the Centenary players are scoring in double-figures, led by senior guard Holli Wilkins.

Wilkins, hitting 37.2 percent of her shots from the floor and 34.7 percent of her three-point chances, leads Centenary with a 14.3 ppg. average at home, adding a team-high 3.5 apg. and 3.0 spg.

Averaging in double figures with Wilkins, senior Jelena Aleksic is averaging 12.1 ppg. and 4.5 rpg., hitting a team-leading 47.5 percent of her shots at the Gold Dome. Sophomore Cierra Bush is averaging 11.2 ppg. at home, while leading the team with a rebounding average of 6.8 per game.

As a team, Centenary is averaging 60.8 ppg. at home, while hitting 38.1 percent of their shots.

Centenary hosts Southern Utah Monday at the Gold Dome at 7 p.m.
