Starr Tabbed Mid-Con Player of the Week

ELMHURST, Ill.—Centenary men’s basketball player Alexander Starr has been named the Mid-Continent Conference Player of the Week by the league office. He earns the honor after leading the Gents to back-to-back wins over Southern Utah and UMKC.


Starr (Dallas, Texas/Kimball HS) opened the week with 13 points, four assists, and three rebounds in Centenary’s 70-63 win over Southern Utah. On Saturday, he tallied a career-high 31 points, a career-high-tying 10 rebounds, two assists, and two steals in a 69-68 victory over UMKC. It was his second double-double of the season.


For the week, Starr averaged 22 points on 55 percent shooting, 6.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 1.5 steals. The Gents now sit alone in seventh place in the Mid-Con standings and are tied with UMKC in the win column, which has played one less game than Centenary.
