SHREVEPORT, La. -- Centenary junior Calvin Sanchez was named to the College Baseball Foundation National Honor Roll for the week of Feb. 13, announced by the national organization Tuesday.

The lone player from the Mid-Continent Conference to earn the honor, Sanchez helped the Gents earn a three-game sweep over Jackson State this past weekend, outscoring the Tigers, 27-14, over the series.

Tied for the team-lead with a .500 batting average for the three-game series, the Santa Cruz, Calif., native finished the weekend with three RBI and four runs scored. The junior outfielder led the Gents with an on-base percentage of .615 and a slugging percentage of .700.

In Saturday’s 7-6 extra innings win over Jackson State, Sanchez scored the game-winning run for Centenary, ending the game with a game-high three stolen bases.

This season, Sanchez is hitting .529 in seven games with an on-base percentage of .600 and a slugging percentage of .706.

Sanchez and the Gents welcome Penn State of the Big Ten and Kansas State of the Big 12 to Shehee Stadium for this weekend’s Gents Baseball Classic Friday through Sunday.
